The story
I had everything I thought I wanted. I walked away from all of it.
I’ve spent my life in music. I’ve rapped with Kendrick Lamar, worked with Missy Elliott, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake, and opened for Lauryn Hill. My album, The Regime, hit the top 10 on the iTunes hip hop chart independently, and New Orleans, a city known for its music and its musicians, honored me with a proclamation.
Along the way I bought three homes and a production studio, and built businesses and a career in TV and music.
Then I lost my grandmother. She was my best friend. What she taught me is how I built the life I had and everything in it. She lived for 90 years, and only after she passed did I find out she had never set foot outside of Louisiana. I started asking what all of it was for. So one day I woke up and decided to sell my three houses. I bought an old pizza delivery van at auction for $5,000 and rebuilt it myself in a few weeks with no experience. Millions of you watched the build.
It’s been two years since I built my van. Now I live and create on the road. Same artist, same pen, new mission: to see the world my grandmother never got to see… up close. The music never stopped. Neither will I.
